Carbon fiber
Carbon fiber repair and restoration in Portland, OR.
The carbon fiber work most body shops send out, we keep in-house. Clouded clear coat brought back, chips and cracks repaired, weave matched so the fix disappears. In Sellwood and Southeast Portland, on the exotics and European makes Portland trusts us with.
Carbon fiber is its own craft, separate from steel and aluminum body work, and it is where a lot of shops stop and a specialist starts. We restore clouded clear coat, repair chips and cracks, match the weave, and refinish the part so it reads factory. It runs alongside the same custom paint and collision repair we are known for on European and exotic cars.
- Clear coat that brings the carbon back
- Carbon clear coat is what fails first: hoods, mirror caps, splitters, and trim go cloudy, yellow, or spiderwebbed under years of UV. We sand it back, re-clear it, and bring the weave back to a deep, wet gloss, so the part looks the way it did when the car was new, not replaced.
- Chips, cracks, and weave matching
- A chipped edge or a cracked panel does not have to mean a five-figure replacement. We repair the damage and match the weave direction and pattern so the fix reads as part of the panel, not a patch. The point of carbon repair is that you cannot find the repair.
- Repair when we can, replace when we should
- Carbon parts are expensive, and a lot of them get replaced when they did not need to be. We assess whether the damage is cosmetic or structural and tell you straight whether it is a refinish, a repair, or an honest case for a new part, before any work or any quote on a replacement.
- Gloss, satin, and tinted finishes
- Not all carbon is meant to shine. We match the finish the car left the factory with, gloss, satin, or a tinted clear, so a repaired panel sits right next to the ones around it. Color-matched paint over carbon, or exposed weave under clear, we do both.
- Structural carbon, handled honestly
- Some carbon is trim, and some of it holds the car together. Where a part is structural, we assess it properly and repair or replace it with the right approach rather than bury damage under filler and clear. Safety-critical carbon is not the place to cut a corner, and we will tell you so.
- The cars that prove it
- Aventadors and Huracans with carbon hoods, McLarens, M-cars, GT-stripe Porsches: the carbon work most body shops send out, we keep in-house. I-CAR Gold Class trained, and the exotic owners who could take their cars anywhere bring them to Sellwood.

“I have had Alpina do body work for me on several occasions. Their work is consistently outstanding, and everyone who works there is friendly, honest and professional.”

Carbon fiber repair questions.
Most cosmetic carbon damage can be repaired: chips, cracks, clouded or yellowed clear coat, and edge wear. We repair and refinish the part and match the weave so the fix disappears, usually for far less than a replacement. Genuinely structural damage to a load-bearing carbon part is the case where replacement is the honest call, and we will tell you which one you are looking at.
Yes, and it is one of the most common carbon jobs we do. UV breaks down the factory clear over a carbon hood, mirror caps, or trim, so it hazes, yellows, or spiderwebs. We sand the failed clear back, re-clear the part, and bring the weave back to a deep gloss. It looks restored, not resprayed.
That is the whole job. We match the weave direction and pattern of the surrounding panel so the repaired area reads as part of the part, not a patch over it. A carbon repair you can spot is a carbon repair done wrong.
Both. We match the finish your car came with, gloss, satin, or a tinted clear, so the repaired panel sits right against the ones around it. We can also refinish exposed weave under clear or color-match paint over carbon, depending on what the car calls for.
It depends on the part, the finish, and whether it is a clear-coat restoration, a chip or crack repair, or a full refinish. A mirror cap is a different job from a full hood. The honest answer comes from a free written estimate, so bring the car by or send photos and we will give you a real number, including whether repair or replacement makes more sense.
For cosmetic parts, yes, once it is properly repaired and refinished. For structural carbon, we assess the part and repair or replace it with the right approach rather than hide damage. We will not refinish over a structural failure and call it done, and if a part should be replaced for safety, we tell you.
